Me mate found this next to a skip. The sensible woman doesn't do social media, but it comes from 1939. Where might she get it valued or anyone have ideas what she should do with it? Feel free to suggest hashtags too, I'm at a bit of a loss. Long Eaton, UK.
Edit: oh yeah boosts please

Anyone know of a good supplier of computer parts in UK that isn't Amazon? Brother wants some serious hardware for his big birthday, and shipping from our usual German companies would probably be prohibitively expensive, what with Brexit stuff.

@crazyeddie @jeffowski I like the metaphor in Small Gods, where organised religions grow so big that the God (which lives on belief) eventually dies, but no one notices because they started to worship the structure rather than the God.

@0xabad1dea I've tried to zoom in and also to tap to translate/look up the meaning on a paper book word before.

Kind of the aim of puns isn't it? If it doesn't make you momentarily lose the will to live, is it actually a good pun? -

My other half turned it on for pictures, honestly it's a bit crap. The classification is so so, there doesn't appear to be any way to further train it, and I actually don't see the usecase for having a list of all my pictures that contain chairs even if it could properly identify them. -

@cwebber how do you combine the cabbage and gruel? Saute it separately and then immediately add it? Or it's the vegetables with which you top it?

@ekis sorry to spam you with answers about British politics, it's hard to condense it down.
On a different note, is ship wrecked and comatose a reference to the 80s TV show Red Dwarf? I'm sure it's a line out of the theme song.

Yep, in UK I learned in school about Borneville/Cadbury workers towns/accommodation and hire working conditions improved around the end of the 19th century, but nothing about the labour movement art all. I had the impression it was from the benevolence of some benefactor who just decided to hand down some improvements. -

Regarding not exactly bloat, but privacy, I used I think it was shutup10, which turns off a ton of stuff in windows. It shows you what it's doing so you can customise it, or just leave it to the defaults. Anyway there are a few other programmes like that. For actual programmes you don't want, I would start by just finding the unistall menu and try to directly uninstall what you don't like. If it's not possible then Google "uninstall" + programme name and see what you find.

@glynmoody surely this should be a parliament petition.. And I was under the impression that campaign finance is already capped, leave certainly got into trouble already for breaking the rules.

The only good use of something like that is the do not eat bot on r/whatisthisplant, I think it was, which posted a warning every time someone used the word "eat" "eaten" "edible" etc. -

@VE2UWY @Jorsh @joshuafoust saw a comment from them that said the first time they had a rocket blow up on the launchpad they would have been shut down, [edit: possibly only be held up with paperwork/enquiries - see below] whereas spacex just carries on.

...However, the judiciary – like the police – is proving to be an effective arm of the oil and gas industry, by silencing and imprisoning members of the public taking nonviolent action against climate collapse. Future generations will be disgusted by rulings such as this." - Cressie Gethin of just stop oil, arrested at 22 for conniving a gantry. 2/2
