@mcc how does programming language expressiveness need to improve in order for (almost all) programs to be 1000 lines or less? What counts as the limited line-count program itself, e.g. how do libraries factor in?

I mean this in the sense of curiosity. I have a programming language innovation background and I know that languages could be many times better than they are.

@david42 if the library provides a complete enough encapsulation layer you don't have to think about it, it's a win. if i wound up forking the library and submitting bugfixes and feature improvements, it's still a win because i can think in a simpler model at the toplevel 1000-line program but less of one.

@david42 a large system made of many interacting components, each of which is no more than 1000 lines, could be very satisfying to work with.

@mcc @david42 Have you played with classic Smalltalk-80 or early Squeak? That was from back in the day when the average Smalltalk method length was something like 5-6 lines, and a lot of people felt the system was very tractable like that.

Mit Realität hat vieles in #Telegram nichts zu tun, mit #Manipulation & #Propaganda allerdings sehr viel.

Ich glaube, ohne Telegram wäre unsere Welt eine bessere.

Werde den Eindruck nicht los, dass man sich in einigen regionalen, rechtsaußen #Telegram-Chats richtig freut, dass Putin (eigentlich #Russland, aber so wird es dort selten benannt) mit Waffen mit irrer Sprengkraft Київ (also die #Ukraine ) beschießt.

Apartheid is when, in a given geographic area, there are two separate legal systems for two ethnic, religious, or racial groups (eg. Jews vs Arabs).

When some sanctions (eg. indefinite detention without trial, also known as administrative detention) are only used against one group, it is, by definition, apartheid.

I kind of get what they're trying to say. People coding free and open source software deserve to be paid when as many people value it as value Mastodon.

I agree with that and I'm glad Mastodon the project gets [checks Patreon page] at least £16,660 GBP ($20,835 USD, €20,013 EUR) per MONTH through Patreon alone. It should.

Uuund die Heidelberger Kinderpsychiaterin, die auf Autismus spezialiert ist, nimmt uns nicht, sondern nur Leute direkt aus Heidelberg. Hätte man ja auch irgendwie auf die Seite schreiben können, wo seit einem halben Jahr nur steht, am 18.11. kann man Termine beantragen.
