You can also opt out by placing the vehicle in a crusher and pushing the button.
#YouTube users - is it just me, or are you all seeing #unskippable 2-3 minute ads now? Start for me in the last 24-48 hours.
If you reload the page -- because no "skip ad" button -- you *sometimes* get to continue on but more often than not, you are put back to the start of the video. A 3-minute ad in a 9-minute video seems ... excessive.
I am in Canada (so need to test via VPN) and I am logged in with a Google account.
Leaving aside all the mElon trash, I am annoyed by the people that think SpaceTwitter is "better" than NASA because NASA never caught its own boosters.
Well, no - that wasn't a mission objective. The objective was "beat Soviets to Moon". Designing a reusable booster to do that would have distracted from that goal.
Lol
I don't consider YouTube social media. Yes, I comment on videos occasionally, but mostly I just watch videos because, you know, it's a video-watching site.
If someone boosts my post, that's cool. But I don't need to see it *again* in my timeline.

Please add this to the list #Mastodon peeps.
Mostly, I use just a browser, so not a client thing.
This isn't a setting I can control through prefs, is it?
Sometimes I do use #Mastoot on my iThings but that's a completely different thing, I realize.

@wilw shouldn’t hold back. Let it all out, man.
You didn't say, but I assume you mean iPods with actual disks, right? None of these "chip" things.
A band-aid would be expansion to at least 13 slots ... won't "fix it" but might moderate some of the worst excesses?
If you're 20 and it happened years before you were born, it hardly matters if it's 60 years ago or 160.
"Seized the domain name" may be overstating it. .af is the country code top-level domain for Afghanistan (much as .tv is for Tuvalu). The Afghan government has control over who can use that cc-TLD & they've changed the rules.
Now, of course, it's the *%W# Taliban, so it's not like they are going to be in any way sympathetic to… anything… but it *is* their ccTLD.
Since you can actually buy a TLD now (new & kinda breaks the hierarchical nature of the DNS…), just buy .asfuck.
Embrace, extend, extinguish. Let's hope that flows in the correct direction.
There are actually commercial systems that use ~45 MHz for reasonably reliable long distance comm paths using meteor trails ...
"have all-powerful leaders" ... OK, well, in some sense yes. What they have is owners & no matter how benevolent when the platform starts, eventually the Money People arrive & then everything becomes about "shareholder value". If extracting every last quantum of value from the company kills it ... well "free market" & off they go to do the same at the next place.
AFAIK (and may be wrong!) there is no prohibition against for-profit Mastodon instances. Same could happen at one.
@mattblaze 2023-03-14 is a perfectly logical ISO std (even for ISO).
