The idea was, you'd have this in the police car, and the police officers could just write up information and transmit it through a radio that was connected to it (I don't actually have it here) back to the station. And every time I've shown this thing off, and its lovely, but difficult to focus on, monochrome screen, people have asked a simple question: Why exactly does it have this button here, labeled STALIN?" The camera zooms in on the "3" key, which indeed says STALIN on it. (well, "STA LIN" with a space) "Well, after looking through some information, and setting some stuff up; I'm finally able to reveal why it has a Stalin button! *pushes*" The camera reveals an incandescent light bulb with a filament in the shape of Stalin's head, as the anthem of the USSR plays. After a moment, the camera pans up, revealing that WinAmp (with a USSR theme) is running on the computer behind it, playing the USSR Anthem.

Was having a talk with my manager last night and it suddenly hit me how similar a part of the discussion around AI is with the discussions around Dreamweaver, Flash and WYSIWYG 20+ years ago.
