i am fully on board with the direct to consumer sales model. im glad i live in state that allows it, doesn't punish you for registering an ev, and doesn't force insurance companies to punish you for getting an ev either. let the dealerships die a slow and painful death, and let a thousand independent repair shops spring up in their place -

i love ford's fathom announcement. they should call it the phantom instead because absolutely no ford dealer is ever going to stock a:
1) base model
2) electric vehicle (that they can't sell maintenance on)
3) with no bullshit extra fees or protection packages
they timed the announcement to try and stop slate's momentum. they're terrified of people actually switching. this is excellent news! let the boomers who actually want a $70,000 vehicle larp that they're getting the $30,000 truck take themselves out of the preorder queue, that way i get my slate suv faster! -
