    i've been thinking about buying a camcorder for a while, but a great deal came up on ebay and i had to jump on it.

    i've been meaning to take more video of me hanging out with my friends, because it's gotten so rare with us all graduating and everything. i realized just how awkward filming with a phone is. your subjects can never tell if it's a photo or video, and you have to hold it precariously, making it difficult to film events in motion. it brings me out of the moment to see my notifications as well, and i just end up not taking my phone out at all, and then being sad when i come back home with maybe 1 or 2 photos. i fondly remember being 9 and filming family vacations on our little camcorder as a kid, and i definitely want to bring that sort of vibe back to my life. it's just so natural to keep rolling when you have something always in your hand.

    so, fuck it. i pulled the trigger and i'll make sure to obnoxiously film my next miami trip as much as possible, with the goal of seeing if i can make a little celebratory visualizer for myself on my upcoming birthday vegas trip

    @thatbrickster @nerthos i think i halfway agree. it’s been difficult to watch the cars superclip on long flat-out sections throughout the season. i think they rushed the hybrid tech in order to appeal to the new manufacturers, and because f1 isn’t a spec series, we have a billion disappointing retirements every race as well. it feels like an identity crisis for the series. and i’m glad they’re bringing back the v8 engines… but by 2030? seriously?

    that being said, the classic shenanigans haven’t gone anywhere, so it’s been a lot of fun regardless. i’ve also started watching formula e because the tickets are actually affordable ($50 grandstands) and i can go to the miami and austin races in person without shelling out $1k like i did at f1 miami

    also i will shill formula e because it’s a plain joy to watch as well. everything happens on 1 day (practice, quali, the race itself), and the street racing format and a few new circuits every year keeps it spicy. i thought the fully electric format would make it lame to watch, but it’s been nothing but a joy
