   looking at the slate truck/suv and it looks incredibly tempting. i love the minimalistic design and, most importantly, no dealership sales!!! i know im for sure going electric when my car dies, but ill let other people be the guinea pigs for a few years before i get one

     @sun @coolboymew what's funny is that the dealership saga has gone full circle. in most states they're no longer independently owned businesses, or even franchises of a regional chain. there have been quite a few private equity firms buying up dealerships en masse and starving whole states of competition. so they have quite literally become monopolies in their area

     although out of all the states, florida explicitly allowing direct ev sales is really surprising to me. i wonder who lobbied for that that carve out, tesla?
