@hellomiakoda I know you weren't, I'm saying if I were to share what you wrote with my friends it would basically be "someone said they saw ice near goodwill" and that's a rumor at that point, it's vague and by the time they see it it might be outdated. Providing SALUTE details helps that info be copy pasted widely and everyone in the chain can evaluate its relevance on their own ("oh I saw those black SUVs, they were going the other way" "that was this morning, I'm gone now" etc)

@hellomiakoda details are always useful so people can make their own informed tactical decisions vs repeating rumors!

@dansup it doesn't need to be a hidden or confusing choice, just an informed and simple one. It's like shopping for the right product online, people need info and they need to trust that when they make a choice and click the go button they won't get disappointed or nasty surprises. Some may prefer new or established or big or small or special focus etc and that's ok, but badness still needs to be filtered by opinionated moral humans.

@filmfreak75 @actuallyautistic firstly, boundaries. It's a red flag so limit your involvement to things that are less likely to produce actually toxic situations that affect you. Boundaries are promises to your future self about avoiding harm and don't actually need to be stated; boundaries are not rules for others, but signals for you to disengage.

Secondly, sincerity, "realness," a genuine desire to be a good colleague but not necessarily going with the flow to smooth over tension.

@filmfreak75 @actuallyautistic #2 may ruffle feathers: having backup plans in place so you don't get sucked into toxic situations but don't "bad attitude" yourself out of a job is a good idea. Practice clear, loving, but truthful communication on small things so that when it's a big thing you're experienced: true care isn't shown by papering over uncomfortable truths! We can show care by kindly being honest.

@railmeat @evan if China decided that America should become a homeland for their people and sent their people over here until they made up 30% of the country and then overthrew it, declared a United States of China, and got both light and heavy armanents shipped in to by their own admission repress and expel Americans from their homes, at what point is it morally acceptable for the Americans to say "no, fuck that" and revolt?

Edit: here's a photo of typical drain installation instructions. You do want about 5" of hose in the drain pipe, secured with a cable tie and room for air to flow.

@acsawdey @emilygorcenski also if water leaks are a concern, leak alarms are about $15-30 online. I got a pack of IoT ones for under $50. Apparently water leaks are one of the most common and expensive forms of damage so it makes sense to get these along with smoke detectors etc

@emilygorcenski FYI idk how exactly washer drain pipes work but in general you do want the hose to just be shoved loosely into the larger pipe (with reasonable leeway so it doesn't fall out) because you want air to enter into the larger pipe and you don't want to get an airlock siphoning type action going on and stuff. (I was nervous about my own drain hose and looked that part up)

What does it say about the health of our society that people are c*nsoring their own words and using random unique invented syn o nyms on social media (that we're supposed to pick up on as readers) not because of government reprisal but because The Algorithm will associate you with negativity and straight up disappear you from the social space otherwise?

@siege you could also argue that this is only because 3d and 4d chess are actually the same game as 2d chess just with aesthetic features added.

Or rather if 4d chess is 3d chess in time, then 3d chess is either 2d (standard) chess either in time or on a static physical board but not both.

Continuing the aesthetics vs game affecting function angle, 1d chess could be aesthetic colored line segments jumping around semi-randomly or a sort of linear strongly typed checkers, but is there time???
