wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Friday, 12-Apr-2024 09:14:04 JST wb x64 @railmeat @evan if China decided that America should become a homeland for their people and sent their people over here until they made up 30% of the country and then overthrew it, declared a United States of China, and got both light and heavy armanents shipped in to by their own admission repress and expel Americans from their homes, at what point is it morally acceptable for the Americans to say "no, fuck that" and revolt?
Was the American Revolution staged and won by terrorists?

wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Monday, 19-Feb-2024 17:35:31 JST wb x64 @acsawdey @emilygorcenski yeah the supply sounds awful for sure, just don't want y'all doing this common mistake and then ending up with sewage siphoned into your laundry. Best wishes for a successful remodel!
Edit: here's a photo of typical drain installation instructions. You do want about 5" of hose in the drain pipe, secured with a cable tie and room for air to flow.

wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Monday, 19-Feb-2024 17:35:29 JST wb x64 @acsawdey @emilygorcenski also if water leaks are a concern, leak alarms are about $15-30 online. I got a pack of IoT ones for under $50. Apparently water leaks are one of the most common and expensive forms of damage so it makes sense to get these along with smoke detectors etc

wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Monday, 19-Feb-2024 08:01:16 JST wb x64 @emilygorcenski FYI idk how exactly washer drain pipes work but in general you do want the hose to just be shoved loosely into the larger pipe (with reasonable leeway so it doesn't fall out) because you want air to enter into the larger pipe and you don't want to get an airlock siphoning type action going on and stuff. (I was nervous about my own drain hose and looked that part up)

I've always been more interested in being the tavernkeeper in a fantasy story than the swordsman, Quark and Odo really flesh out the show and let us get introduced to the "regular" parts of the world that TNG really struggled to, always being on shore leave at best: visitors but not inhabitants

wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Saturday, 03-Feb-2024 17:30:44 JST wb x64 What does it say about the health of our society that people are c*nsoring their own words and using random unique invented syn o nyms on social media (that we're supposed to pick up on as readers) not because of government reprisal but because The Algorithm will associate you with negativity and straight up disappear you from the social space otherwise?

wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Jan-2024 19:36:03 JST wb x64 @siege you could also argue that this is only because 3d and 4d chess are actually the same game as 2d chess just with aesthetic features added.
Or rather if 4d chess is 3d chess in time, then 3d chess is either 2d (standard) chess either in time or on a static physical board but not both.
Continuing the aesthetics vs game affecting function angle, 1d chess could be aesthetic colored line segments jumping around semi-randomly or a sort of linear strongly typed checkers, but is there time???

Half of the benefit of companies like this is just having more of an ecosystem than whatever AliExpress hands you when you encounter issues

wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Tuesday, 27-Jun-2023 07:06:36 JST wb x64 @atomicpoet you're perceived as an admin of a 2000-person instance named after a major piece of social software with 16,000 followers, everything you do under that mantle reflects on and is distributed to all those people. Even if all you did was post photos of what beer you drank, this would be known as the place that does that, if you're an admin you're in a leadership role with responsibility. If your words spread that far, you have power. If you want to separate that out, then separate it.

wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Tuesday, 27-Jun-2023 06:49:13 JST wb x64 @atomicpoet I feel this in my bones, but just be aware that avoiding all conflict is a great way to find yourself paired up with the worst people. A total lack of conflict very often means maintenance of the status quo and capitulation to whoever's more charming and powerful, which in an unjust world very often means siding with giant corporations and genocidal colonizers. Vulnerable people can't assume anyone supports them, it takes active advocacy to make that known.

wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Tuesday, 27-Jun-2023 06:49:12 JST wb x64 @atomicpoet I hate conflict too, it makes me shake and hyperventilate, but I've also seen how my loved ones rely on me to actively take a stand alongside them in order to keep them safe. My love for them has to outweigh my fear of conflict, and I need to exercise that muscle often in order to keep it tuned.

wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Saturday, 24-Jun-2023 01:30:14 JST wb x64 @AnarchoNinaWrites absolutely, the history of America is essentially smugglers, slavers, capitalists, religious extremists, and criminals or sociopaths coming over here to try and make it rich (or at least avoid interacting with the society they left, or upon court order and threat of death for their crimes) so you've got a continent full of the worst misfits and guess what they go off and kill whoever they want, causing major problems for everyone else (and genocide)

wb x64 (wilbr@glitch.social)'s status on Saturday, 24-Jun-2023 01:17:28 JST wb x64 @freakazoid @vantablack the idea that someone would get as large as the big instances without asking for donations and mod help, just letting things schlep along until some undetermined payday or offramp, sends a shiver up my spine.
Then again my own server is just schlepping along, it just also doesn't allow signups...
