Some of these men helped keep my grandfather alive.
They are very much responsible for my existence, (as I was reminded of more than once while growing up).
This digital purge is repulsive.

@slothrop
All true.
Also true is that my particular upbringing coupled with having been a stay at home parent for over a decade landed me in an unusual position. To quote one of my kids' peers recently, I'm "just one of the moms, but a guy."🫤
You're absolutely correct when you say it's mainly about not doing stuff.
I'd like to add that it's also about 'order of operations'. Thinking needs to come BEFORE acting. (Speaking certainly qualifies as acting here.)
@SailorDisco
I was taking about this just yesterday.
A friend asked why I was "being weird" recently, and I had to explain my tendency to be extra cautious/reserved when I'm surrounded by predominantly female strangers out of concern that my normal nature could be misinterpreted.
Which is stupid, and yet absolutely necessary.
And anyone who agrees it's stupid but doesn't see the necessity is someone I'd advise caution around.
@slothrop
For better or worse, I'm usually in the loop on things. As such, it's always been a matter of how much proverbial rope to allow.
I think she didn't expect to run out of that rope this time, which would explain the increasingly..."frantic"(not quite right, but we'll allow it)... tone of the texts from which this is a sampling.
Yes. Definitely bad tactics.
Kids, this is NOT the way to go about getting permission for a questionable action.
So....we let Allar do whatever ineffectual thing he wants without screwing it up completely, and the #SMU QB gives us all our TDs? Is that the plan?
Uh, no?
The Patriots didn't win the Super Bowl in 2017.
I was discussing the concept of "just enough rope" with the teenager at the start of tonight's political insanity.
I worry that what started in that direction may have gone past that.
@hacks4pancakes @wendynather this specific case is really shaping up to show exactly how absurdly some people have chosen to twist their "rules".
@GossiTheDog SOMEONE WAS PITCHING THIS AT MY KID'S GYM YESTERDAY!!!
Unrelated (?) fact: he just got his cybertruck delivered.
I'm dead serious.
@torgo I really like how it was said here: https://mas.to/@reesecommabill/109378432904251250
I might not be rah-rah for my country most days, but it's easy to do for this team. They represent the country I want to believe in: young, driven, fearless (even if naïve), born here and abroad, from families with single parents and families of privilege—bound by a common goal. The flag represents whatever you choose it represent. That's the one I salute.
🤷🇺🇲⚽
Just this guy living life day to day, fully expecting to land somewhere between levels 2 & 7...I have two awesome kids - if we know each other in real life, it's probably their fault.
