Dagegen war es nicht schon immer so, dass die Positionen von CDU und SPD 1:1 austauschbar waren.

Just spent the evening watching our 17yo perform two plays in two foreign languages. He and his classmates wrote one of those plays themselves.

Over three hours total, and a very entertaining time.

I couldn’t be prouder.

After the plays, I helped with cleanup. Their classroom had served as dressing room and backstage area, and was quite a mess.

But on the blackboard was written, neatly and in huge letters: “FCK NZS, FCK AFD“

The play they had written was about the need to protect the planet, and respect other people regardless of skin color, religion, sexuality etc. They showed videos of Holocaust survivors.

The kids are alright.

This comes on the same day that “Chernobyl” is trending again in my Fedi timeline. 😬

@ifixcoinops Not a full solution, but: In the EU, from October 2025*, banks are required to process transactions between current accounts within 10 seconds, at no extra charge.

I can't wait to see the back of Thiel and the the shady services he runs.

*) banks already have to accept such "real-time" transactions since January. From October, they must also allow customers to initiate those transactions, as some already do.

@ifixcoinops IHMO 99.8% of the legal use cases for cryptocurrency could simply be addressed by banks upgrading their services to the technical standards of, say, the early 2000s.

@dalias I use CNs quite liberally, simply to signal what the topic of the post is, if I suspect that it might put some people off. Just like I don't simply shove my political views or sexual preferences into peoples' faces at a party or in the office.

Interestingly, I don't see my posts with CNs getting any less engagement than those without.

When I see someone here arguing against the use of content notices (content warnings), it makes me think that they've probably seen only a small part of the Fedi.

I started going online in Goatse's* heyday, and I'm not squeamish; and still, I'm intensely grateful when people give me a choice of whether I really want to look at their latest kink / injury / sexual achievement right at this moment.

That goes double for US politics.
