I’m optimizing my repair kit, the hard way.

I might already be rolling again if I had thought to check whether replacement tube’s valve would actually fit through the rim.

Or even just brought a patching kit where the glue tube isn’t empty.

While this is clearly my own fault, I’m wondering what decision tree led the good folks at the bike shop to equip my 15kg “take me to Pakistan and back” travel bike with “Superlight” inner tubes.

Anyway, you live, you learn.

I’m also learning that on longer rides in cool weather, it really is a good idea to maybe bring an extra shirt or something

My wife got herself double-kicked by a horse today at work. She’s got a couple of impressive bruises on her thighs.

Tomorrow she’s shadowing a vet. I ask her to limit herself to bunnies and hamsters, to no avail.

She’s living her best life.

It’s gotten to the point where we have to treat Free Software projects like we treat metal bands: before engaging, always check if they’re Nazis.

Can’t say I appreciate this state of affairs.

@mcc two of our kids weee born at home, accompanied by professional midwives.

While I wasn’t of much use during the process (unless you count making tea), I did learn a few things. One of them was: if a birth is progressing this rapidly (six minutes, you say?), then mother and baby will usually be fine.

Still, I keep my light set just a little higher, so as to shine into the windows of cars, increasing the chance that the drivers will actually perceive me before running me over.

It’s worth asking whether a) it’s desirable for such “definitive” results to be available; and b) whether “definitive” is even possible within the scope of technical design decisions.
