@GreenSkyOverMe @VeroniqueB99 Holy shit. That is actually a pretty big fucking deal - most Swiss institutions do whatever they can not to offend most of the time, even if it's not the best ethical choice.

I think I probably shocked my mother, who is finally realising that the rule of law has collapsed and there is no procedural thing that is gonna stop Nazis, when she mentioned to me today that my visit preinaugration was probably a good idea.

I told her that foreign states are giving their citizens the same kinds of warnings they give about war zones and lawless states, and moreover, that I would probably be deported or arrested, given that I've very publicly criticised Trump and am an intentional ex-citizen.

And I think she knows and understands that I wasn't being hyperbolic.

"I told you so" only feels good if it's to an ex, really.
