Hey, while we're talking about erasing history:
In 1949 the US military held its first Aeriel Gunnery Competition, later known as "Top Gun."
The best of the best competed in dogfighting and other skills. The team that won, was the 332nd: The Tuskegee airmen.
So they refused to announce a winner. 🤡

@mekkaokereke I remember my Dad watching a documentary about the Tuskegee airman in WWII! They had some interviews with the survivors, it was really cool.

@mekkaokereke Never ceases to amaze. We (France here) were so much taught about the US, land of freedom and progress and democracy etc. And yet… my parents were alive when the US were a declared apartheid state not much different from South Africa. Oh well, •I• was too. We need to revisit how we’ve learned history.

They are very much responsible for my existence, (as I was reminded of more than once while growing up).
