Oh, shoot. I missed most of After Midnight. Programming excitement had me in its grasp. I fixed bugs.

Now the resources are spread densely across the playing area. I need to add a couple more, but the first 3 look good. I used 7 loci to spawn from, so that all starting areas have resources. And I now know how to control that to get other distributions, including voids. So if someone wants a challenge, it can be that.

I should add a power challenge mode. That's where you can't save the game, and must have a UPS attached, and backup power, for the game may last for days by re-spawning resources.

Somewhere in a php file I screwed up something that used to work. I was debugging something else. And it's a group email generator. And it sent everyone an email. This is the second time.

scraping models from ikea is actually easier than this one expected:

1. open the network tab of the web inspector on the ikea site, set it to media (this is in firefox but it assumes chromium-based things have a simiilar tool)
2. open the page for the product and open the 3d view, then save the result of the request for a glb file that happens when opening the 3d view
3. open in blender
it even imports with textures and materials, properly scaled, and everything

One reason people on the group chat were using @signalapp instead of approved government systems was to avoid records being kept. They want to avoid freedom of information act requests, subpoenas, and criminal discovery that could hold them accountable. This violates federal law.

Project 2025 trained many now in government to avoid keeping records for that reason.

I'm laying out resources algorithmically, to make each fresh game different.

I've noticed that if I code the resources to cluster, as they generally do in the real world, I always seem to generate voids. I haven't witnessed it completely fill the playable area, and as I'm starting with the center-most location, the largest void is always off to one side, in the run I'm looking at, at roughly 7 o'clock, and at least 10% of the playable area. A very simplified gravity emulation in 2-space, as it is a flat area. Winning while starting in a void would be very difficult, I think. I may use more than one locus.

This should generate more interaction between the NPC factions. If I lay the resources out uniformly, there is a tendency to not grow outward as much. The need for resources drives interactions. I might add an explorer type character, but this will do a lot.

Measles can remain in the air and on surfaces for quite a long time. I seem to recall it's roughly 2 1/2 hours of existing outside of the body before the virus is inactive. Its persistence in public places is why this is a particularly rapidly-spreading disease among the unvaccinated and under-vaccinated.

If you didn't suffer through the hell of this murderous infection as a child, please make damn sure you and your children are current with your vaccinations. There is a simple test to determine if you need a booster.
