@dilf @pettanko @mischievoustomato never knew how to do stuff with friends or what that even means in the first place. None of my supposed friends ever invited me to anything either. I've given up now, just like with women. I squandered every opportunity too.

@lain I've viewed the conflict in the lens of something like 3 for a long time.
It makes sense with the continual conflict -> agreement -> truce breaking, that's been going on since the end of the ussr. The state department just sees russia as a defeated power and so doesn't respect diplomacy.
I hadn't connevted it to current events like that though. I'm also a little skeptical that it's all theater, there's probably some truth to the rest of the answers as well giving it more nuance.

@djsumdog @keira_reckons @Paleface @sapphire There's a big difference between freedom of religion within christianity and absolute freedom to choose your own arbitrary morality, and they thought so in the past as well, look at how they exiled the mormons and distrusted the catholics.
Not sharing a common morality with american culture is a big deal for the american identity question when you're already a complete foreigner.

@alex only as a checksum, not as something which has to be copy/pasted or typed out, since that isn't reliable.
You could use both emoji and ascii and buttom to switch them, or automatically translate between the two, or keep emoji as a display, only revealing the ascii when it needs to be copied or entered somewhere.
I really like the idea though, there is a lot of research that shows that humans are much better at seeing small details in human expressions than anything else.

@mint I'm starting to think those are advertisements, both the seething articles and the posts about the articles. I doubt so many guys are convinced to use these mediocre chatbots. They're trying to normalize using centralized for-profit big-tech for social interaction. Yet more parts of life are becomeing transactional to further drain men of wealth.
