@Gotterdammerung for the first 18 years of my life I was forced into a school system made to coddle brown people, so I learned that anything I can’t learn within a 45 minute class period isn’t worth learning
@micr0@prettygood do you feel fulfilled? do you feel unhealthy? if yes and no, continue to do you. Creative zeal is not burnout, but burnout is burnout
@mischievoustomato@dushman@hor32@tadano@prettygood if you're a good goy and have a service contract with them owning a Dell is pure bliss, something goes wrong and you call Dell and they send you a shipping label or a guy to fix it If you're just a peon consumer, get fucked
@tadano@mischievoustomato@dushman@hor32@prettygood we're running out of the ability to pump more power into processors so as processes get smaller, its MUCH more advantageous to put a bunch of smaller RISC chips that do very specific things on one SoC than to have a general purpose processor that can do everything Since you can't pump infinity watts of power into a processor, its much more efficient to have a separate "processor" for every instruction and just turn them on and off as needed. Allows you to only "use" 5% of the processor in any given cycle while still getting 100% of the on-paper efficiency
@tadano@mischievoustomato@dushman@hor32@prettygood >lower cost >corporate literally does not matter, we're paying about what we pay for Dells with support contracts for MacBooks with Applecare and MDM, and we don't even have to pay for antivirus on our windows machines
@tadano@mischievoustomato@dushman@hor32@prettygood Corporate Linux already lost the ARM race to Apple, sorry chud. Macbooks are resurgent in the office, about half of my (very technical) department has made the switch and our sales and support staff are close to 80%
@hor32@dushman@prettygood@arcana I haven't kept up with it because my Armenian friend from Twitter disappeared when I moved over to here, but I do know I hate Israel for funding the Azeri genocide in nagorno karabakh
@hor32@dushman@prettygood@arcana I used a 2TB SSD as a coaster because I had a huge excess of them, ended up trading it to a friend in return for a nice set of coasters which he finally paid forward this year
@dushman@prettygood@arcana@hor32 its a phone, I use it to shitpost and call my mom. I carry a phone like I carry a pistol: it exists to get me to a full featured device in the same class so I can do the things I want to do
