    Yes, replacing Googling is a huge speedup. Let's say I want to know how to make a certain badly documented third party API dance the way I want it to. In the past you had to piece the picture together from forums or tangentially related stackoverflow posts. You can now ask the AI directly and it'll respond with the pieced-together answer. Caveat is that the answer can be hallucination and that seems to happen somewhat regularly. Trying it and checking that it is indeed doing what you want is still necessary, but the time-wasting hunt for information has been cut down.

    Yes, AI is the next layer up from high-level languages. I still say that no dev actually understands what the machine is doing if he never learned to code in assembly. Same with AI, unless people familiar with the lower layers they won't be able to make the right perf decisions, make good design choices, arrange muh cloud services efficiently.

    Yes, likely. I said pretty much the same thing the other day when I had lunch with non-SW people.

    The only thing MBA types kept saying was "companies will train them". I didn't want to get too deep into an argument with them. So I didn't counter that companies haven't trained anybody for decades, so I just kept silent.
