    The funny thing is that she focuses on the "emergent vitality of languages" and yet for all her education on linguistics, is completely unaware that her usage of the high-rising terminal, the "valley girl speak" she's using, is the result of mass media influencing the way many people in her generation are speaking. She is completely brainwashed through media to the point that it's in the way she speaks, just like so many others. It's very sinister when you have these "people" with not only homogenized worldviews, but even speech patterns.
