@kims I did a horseback riding lesson after not riding in forever. It was an incredibly joyful and therapeutic experience for me. The horse I rode was such a beautiful sweetheart, I loved spending time with her. I even snuck a little kiss on her forelock at the end.

Drawn freehand, Apple Pencil between my arthritic knuckles, on my iPad Pro, using the Sketch Club app. Spent about an hour total on it.

I was rehanging something I’d had to take down for a while, and suddenly thought “Oh no!! Where did I put the screws I had to remove to take it down??!?” and I looked down and poof! they were on the table immediately in front of me, exactly where I’d left them 3 months ago. Shortest search ever.

Well, long-term success, since I retired in June of 2021 I have lost a lot of weight and increased my fitness, and I did the whole thing extremely carefully and gradually, so it should stick. I've actually had to start eating a little more than I really want, because my goal was to stabilize between 120 and 125 lb and I'm flirting with dropping under 120, which is not very many pounds away from underweight. And I feel very good. Thank you for asking.

I don't love doing PT but my physio is a gem. Most physios are. I find that a lot of specialties don't take pain seriously enough, but I've never had to persuade a physiotherapist that "this hurts"

Training with mindfulness is way more effective, and I have many physiotherapists to thank for the insight 🙏

Today the temps are up 10-15⁰F which means we're *just* above freezing...so I was able to crack some of the sheets of ice off our front stoop.
We live in a place that typically gets small amounts of snow that melts in a couple of days and we're on day 7 of 6+ inches on the ground and not being above freezing.

@kims I had a great dinner with a very dear friend of 20+ yrs, after exchanging much needed hugs and spending the afternoon together. 🫂
I was able to help her with something I might not have known about had I not reached out to find that hug yesterday, and I was also able to help someone she knows. Both are small efforts from me, but that's how community works best.
Plus the new Mexican restaurant we ate at (that is also 100% gluten free) has amazing, made from scratch food! 😋

I write lefty, bowl lefty, play tennis lefty, but do most everything else right-handed. Imagining it in my head, I can't decide which hand reaches for a frisbee (and I don't remember which hand I used as a kid)
I think it's fantastic that you've taught your right arm to do what you want it to do, and disc golf sounds like fun. I'm not going to age into golf or pickleball but I think disc golf could be a thing for me. Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm an old man and decided I needed a little more activity in my life, so about 3 years ago I started playing disc golf.
I'm completely left hand dominant, but due to an old shoulder injury, I taught myself to play right handed. throwing sidearm has been the absolute toughest. try throwing something with your non-dominant hand and you'll see what I mean.
Anyway, I've been practicing for 3 years now and am finally getting to where I'm pretty happy with my sidearm.

Today is two weeks in the new house, and it's really starting to feel like home.
We're settled in enough that I've been able to start playing with my home automation. So far, among other little things, the car and the space heater will share the same circuit nicely, and the hall light I keep leaving on will turn itself off.

@kims We got our solar electric system installed by the end of 2025 deadline to receive our Tax Credit on our US taxes. That's a big deal because it's 30% of the cost of the installation. Woot!

Just nice to see that I have some chops next to her and that I can contribute to her work. She recently got a publication grant and I want nothing more than to see her graphic novel succeed.

@kims My beautiful partner was having a real downer because of her MS this morning. I managed to convince her to get in the car and we drove 5 minutes down the road to colourful Cable Bay to enjoy watching the sea, breathing in the fresh sea air and feeding the seagulls. It changed the rest of the day for her. Sometimes little things have big impacts.

@kims The first ever taken antidepressants run took me through a stressful, work filled dark month without a scratch, everything felt just so normal and manageable again - something I haven’t felt in a long time. Not giving superpowers, but the calm and a clearer mind.

@kims I didn’t have time to reply to this last night. Yesterday I taught meditation and talked a bit about Buddhism to a lovely bunch of guys in New Hampshire’s main prison. It went very well. I was involved in doing this years ago then had to stop, but the group continued with different leaders until Covid. I managed to gather together a team of volunteers to restart the group the week before Thanksgiving. I’m looking at starting a group in the women’s prison as well.
