Hunter Yoda being a statue on the counter. He's sitting on a piece of leftover weaving from making kitchen towels so his rear is not on the cold surface. #Caturday#CatsOfMastodon
You know you got art from a real human when it turns up with a handwritten note AND a super cute sticker! Thank you @kenSwinson ! Can't wait to get the print on my wall!
Picked up a refurb Dell laptop yesterday to put Linux on it. Went rapidly from Fedora with KDE Plasma, to Pop, before settling on Mint.
I got the Linux machine to PRINT something on my network printer. Without even having to curse at it or download anything. Linux has come a very long way since I last tried using it a decade ago.
It took 3 years on the Fediverse before I fell down the Linux rabbithole. You lot are a bunch of bad influences.
@kims I finished knitting a small tuck-in scarf today that was stalled for a year, and finished another abandoned project at the weekend. Feels good to have them done!
Making the Dill Dough from an Instagram reel, first rise going on. I bet you could make this with other herbs, but for my first attempt I really wanted to try a dill dough.
The dill dough... sort of worked. I think I didn't leave it to rise for long enough, or bake it long enough. There were uncooked squishy bits in the middle so I cut those out and I have a rather short but delicious and soft mini loaf.
I used wheat flour instead of white, there is some dill flavour but it's faint. Next try I'll use Herbes de Provence and up the amount from 2 teaspoons to 3 or more. But then it won't be a dill dough.
Explicit guidance from my boss that even though persons A and B are best and fastest at doing the task, we're going to use persons A and C and deliver it slower.
This is so that C learns and takes some of the pressure off A and B for later. Person D is queued up to for this later in the year.
We are choosing to deliver software more slowly so we can spread the knowledge out and not burn out two very good engineers. I never thought I'd work in a company like this.
My cat has invented a game where he hides under the bed and I shake his crinkly snake on a stick toy. He waits until I'm not paying attention then explodes out from a different piece of the bed to grab the snake. Having raised my blood pressure and vanquished the snake, he trots back under the bed. Repeat until the cat is done.
To start the game, he brings the snake on a stick to me, drops it at my feet, and howls. I have been well trained.
New business rule: if someone schedules a surprise meeting, they have to include the threat level. For example, "Bob 1:1, nothing bad" or "Mary 1:1, your job is safe." #Business#Courtesy
NASA and Japan have launched a test satellite made of wood!
LignoSat looks about 10cm square and is being tested for radiation resistance, which could protect the electronics inside. On atmospheric re-entry, the wood would burn up, leaving much less debris behind. It uses a variety of magnolia wood that was used for sword sheaths and every part of this story makes me happy.
Knitting the #EmotionalSupportChicken pattern and I have finished the body, head and beak. Pretty close to being done and already planning the colours for chicken the second (grey and hot orange-red).
