So the idea is to presrve the entire website on a deprecated/historical subdomain, then redirect progressively back in time until a hit or a 404-for-the-ages?
And the redirect means relative links will already be on the 2017 subdomajn so won't be masked by newer resources.
That is pretty slick!

I haven't! I had to install Telegram to message someone who would have been better served by SMS, and I was immediately creeped out by a few "I saw you signed up!" messages, so that was *awesome*. Mostly I use SMS or email, I've managed to avoid the newer complications.

Right, encryption does add some protection.
The phone network holds the data anyway to transmit it, so an app is one *more* corp. An established phone company *feels* a little less sketchy than some tech startup, but that's not 100% fair, especially here (Canada).

Systems like Telegram and WhatsApp, they're just messaging, right? Tied to your phone number?
So, it's SMS but with extra steps and a private corporation holds all your meta/data?
Am I missing a detail?

Is there a browser like Vivaldi, but on the Firefox engine/ecosystem instead of Chrome? One without links to LLMs/GenAI or advertising or blockchain or homophobia or whatever else? I'd like to maintain some browser engine diversity on my desk.
