@evan@danso Yeah, I'm a "yes, but..." I expect HN would be fediblocked pretty broadly.
A federated HN style platform could be cool, like Lemmy but approximating the HN user experience, and that would address the single-monolithic-instance problem.
Anybody want to hire a fullstack js/ts dev with decades of experience and no "ai" taint? I do it all, I look good doing it, I'm cheap as hell, and I don't use rented coding tools so you can own all the code I write for you.
I think I figured it out halfway through writing this reply.
LLMs are 100% not sustainable. It costs more to make and run one than it will ever generate in revenue; just running it costs more than they'll ever be able to charge for it.
But! We have a precedent! Oil, at least Canadian oilsands oil, can't be made profitably. The solution, because we are an oil dependent civilisation, is unlimited government subsidy.
If they make everything dependent on LLMs, then govs will *have* to pay!
Wife just called Oy a "fuzzy observer" and that sounds like it should be a quantum physics term, like strange and charm quarks, qubits, fuzzy observers.
@evan I would say, To: Alice, cc: both Alice's and Bob's followers, possibly cc: or bcc: a theoretical Collection of all participants in the thread who have not muted the thread by leaving the collection?
