Somebody just boosted an old poll, that I had voted in - from a now-gone instance.
Made me wonder.
When an instance self-destructs, do poll votes from that instance go away? Does the instance hosting the poll continue to update the numbers after it's closed, in cases like that?

There are some limited cases where it makes sense for my data to live in the cloud (someone else's computer), but almost all the time it's better and safer on my computer, that I own, in my house/pocket/backpack.

Bird people, please learn me a thing!
Last year, we had a bird build their nest behind our house number thing (it tilts away from the wall).
Now there seems to be a bird sniffing around it again; anyway, there's a bird who fucks off in a hurry when we open the front door.
Should I take out last year's nest? It's pretty gross and poop-caked, but maybe this year's bird could benefit from it?

In grade 10 math, I could roaming-peck 135wpm. My teacher could only homerow 85wpm so he sent me to the office for lying about my speed before he actually tested me, because my poor technique made my results obviously impossible.

That’s “monthly active users”, it’s one of the metrics they use to sell ads and to valuate a corporate social media company.

I think fediverse already has "made it", for what that means to me.
I log in every day and see interesting posts, abject silliness, tech and political news, tits. I've made personal connections, friends even. I've helped fund my survival and helped other people fund theirs, and I've seen and shared uncountable pet pictures.
Fuck more do you want? What does MAU mean to you, personally?

I read about a thing a while back in California and NY where "oxygen bars" would serve a shot of booze vaporised into a stream of oxygen. Doctors and lawmakers were horrified and it didn't last long past the first few articles about it.

I don't want Mozilla to "process" my data at all. The browser should be a tool that I use to interact with web sites and services. At no point after I download the broswer does Mozilla need to be involved.

Sync is different, whatever other services they offer, then it makes sense to require an agreement. Then Moz has legitimate cause and consent to process data on my behalf.

But basic browsing? There is no way Mozilla should ever see any of my data, let alone "process" it.
