I forced myself to do something similar ~20 years ago, shortly after I had to lock myself in the closet with all his guns.

Later, when my abuser was feeling "sorry," I asked to help a friend move (which required him to leave the state for 3 days) to "do me a favor."

I packed as much of my shit as I could in bags and couch surfed for a few months while saving up for a place.
