When I was a kid, I never would have guessed that figuring out what to buy, make, and eat for 21 meals per week would be such a big part of adulthood.

We need Star Trek replicators to finally be invented so food can magically appear for everyone on the days when you don’t know what to eat. 😂

My spouse is trying to introduce me to one of those crime drama shows where everyone runs around committing crimes, solving crimes, or sometimes both.

There are various layers to the show that my spouse loves.

Guess who gets all of my focus?

The protagonist’s dog. If the dog is present in a scene and is doing well, I’m interested. That’s it.

@WarnerCrocker If this were a book, my review of it would mention how heavy-handed the foreshadowing was in the first few chapters.

For those of you who prefer more hopeful New Year’s greetings, may I present:

When I was a preschooler, I watched my mother take down our old wall calendar and put up a new one.

I asked her what she was doing, and she explained that the new year was about to begin.

Little Lydia didn’t approve of this grownup nonsense. She liked the year we already had and saw no reason to change it.

(Spoiler alert: it changed anyway.)
