@ChasingWaterfalls I’ve had people think I don’t have adhd because my house is relatively organized (for a house with four children 6 and under in it). But it’s only well organized because I can’t manage my anxiety and sensory meltdowns otherwise. I also spend most of my time organizing things to the point it’s my main hobby. Knowing what I have to do to manage my adhd doesn’t mean I don’t have it basically. I expend a lot of energy managing adhd while raising children.
@PohlMe@jmakesart@sandalphon I don’t even bother looking at it anymore. Actually I just stay out of adhd activism entirely after I got chewed out by a self diagnosed woman for saying something she thought was revolutionary for adhd people was overstimulating for me, an adhd dyslexic person and made it harder to read (it was a way of typing where you randomly capitalize some letters but not others).
@jmakesart@sandalphon The largest adhd group on fb is full of people like that. Legit tired of people larping minor normal shit as symptoms of a serious neurodevelopmental disorder.
@GalacticTurtle@Fullycaffeinated@TheWitchBitch@Cousin_Isobel Same. One of my teachers thought I had a back problem because I couldn’t sit still and she called my mom with her worries. Led to my adhd diagnosis, so actually, that teacher is probably why I’m as able to function as well as I do. But that’s how these things should be happening.
@TheWitchBitch@Cousin_Isobel I remember teachers being very explicit about how they weren’t our friends and couldn’t communicate privately. It used to be well understood that private communication being a teacher and student was open to abuse and more than likely did involve abuse.
@senryu@Piss_Ant@IsraelDelendaEst I have a friend who is probably asexual. She thinks the idea of sex of any kind is hilarious, has no interest in sexual or romantic relationships, and has never dated. She however does not call herself asexual.
@GrumpyOldNurse@HebrideanHecate@Flick The only ‘study’ I’ve seen was published in a trans paper, not the breastfeeding journal. I don’t think I’ve seen or heard of another one.
@stingray@ChasingWaterfalls They won’t have yet (I assure you we will have those numbers though), but we’re already in an increased period of maternal deaths because of health disparities caused by the pandemic.
@AbolishPregnancy@Aflowernamedyou You’re not wrong in general. I just found it funny he didn’t bother to go on a rant about the liberal media and berate me about gay and trans people while she went on a rant about how evil everyone in Florida is.
At home we focus on eating til you are full and listen to your body. We always offer ‘healthy’ choices at meals because we’re fans of giving a range of choice. One of our kids is a picky eater too, offering lots of choices is the only way we get the 3 year old to eat anything that isn’t pasta or a potato.
I’m worried that my 6 year old is becoming obsessed with healthy eating and her weight because of this addition in her education. She’s been spouting lots about being skinny and focused on eating only healthy things the school considers healthy.
I have an unhealthy relationship with food and am trying to not pass that on. This feels like the school is literally teaching diet culture to my now first grader.
