Is it unreasonable to ask my 6 year old daughter’s school to remove her from their lessons about healthy eating when she goes back in the fall? They’re heavily teaching the outdated food pyramid crap from the US government and constantly harping on ‘healthy’ eating.
At home we focus on eating til you are full and listen to your body. We always offer ‘healthy’ choices at meals because we’re fans of giving a range of choice. One of our kids is a picky eater too, offering lots of choices is the only way we get the 3 year old to eat anything that isn’t pasta or a potato.
I’m worried that my 6 year old is becoming obsessed with healthy eating and her weight because of this addition in her education. She’s been spouting lots about being skinny and focused on eating only healthy things the school considers healthy.
I have an unhealthy relationship with food and am trying to not pass that on. This feels like the school is literally teaching diet culture to my now first grader.
