@LisbonMuse@Flick I watched the Drinker for a while. He makes good story points about didacticism (the "Message!") and structure but really suffers from toxic masculinity. Any film that has a strong woman in it or is featured over the men is panned.
@LaylaAlexandrovna@LadyMont@sandalphon@Piss_Ant I don't know when one set of bones got to be treated like the rest of ours but if you don't get your teeth taken care of, you end up with gum disease which leads to heart disease. The body is an integrated unit. Standing in line to pick up photos at a convention and the Brit behind me commented on the smile in my photo: "you Americans and your teeth!" as if that were a bad thing.
@TheWitchBitch It's going to be harder for the government to paint them all as vicious terrorists. I've seen footage on Twitter and quite the impressive attendance!
@HebrideanHecate And the people commenting on it: where were they when I was trying to improve prison conditions? Not only nowhere but scoffing at my attempts. Every summer, many in TX prisons die because they don't have access to potable water (they have to purchase it and the price gets jacked up in summer). There are real hardships in prison but god forbid they lobby on behalf of non-trans inmates.
@HebrideanHecate It's also so performative. If you didn't give a shit about far worse human rights violations and don't extend your concern beyond the narrow "he's not getting his unnecessary meds" when most inmates are receiving little to no medical attention (the lawsuits I worked on were all about a complete absence of medical care, one resulting in an unnecessary death) and many other horrific violations of human rights conventions (rotten food, undrinkable water, no air conditioning in brutal heat, elimination of libraries and access to families), then you are really being highly selective in who deserves what. Clearly, they don't extend their activism beyond the sacred caste.
