I have never had a promotion when I was w2 and the most raise I ever saw was 3%, but as a self employed I just updated my title on linkedin and just asked for a higher rate and no retarded skag in HR could stop me

if I am between contracts, it is just like a long unpaid vacation and I keep working on stuff - when I have multiple contracts at the same time, I just save that money for when the work isn't available

it requires low time preference to be self employed, but the total comp averages out much higher and I don't have to care about the politics and koolaid from corporate

better options exist for people who actually need healthcare, or have kids/spouse but they cost much more

it is basically there if I break my back or get cancer - for anything else, I have google and a stockpile of Amazon'd medical supplies
