@djsumdog @EvolLove I watched the show before reading the books. I knew about the books but didn't prioritize read them first. I think they did a very very good job adapting the books for TV though.

I grew up on the original series and watched all of the next generation. Kind of got bogged down in DS9 and when Discovery came out I just reached saturation. Never went back to the franchise, haven't even seen the Abrams movies.

@EvolLove @FortyTwo just to provide the exception that proves the rule, I give you Naomi Nagata, Chrisjen Avasarala and Camina Drummer from the Expanse novels and series. It's all about the writing, the character development and the actresses who portray them.

@Moon I was in college when PHM came out it pretty much didn't leave the tape deck in my car for about three months.

I was involved with a youth ministry on campus and was driving to get supplies for a fundraising event with the chaplain. He was young, modern, but still, you know, a priest.

He picks up the case for PHM and starts reading the lyrics quietly to himself. After a few minutes, he tucks the case back into the console and says "wow, some woman really messed him up good."
