I got a call from the bank once about something similar. I was buying a guitar. Transferred $1600 to his account, and then was driving over to pick it up. They called on the way to check if I had been scammed. I just told them no, it's not a scam. I've met the guy, I know exactly what I'm getting, and I've physically tested it to make sure it's legit. And they let it go through without a hitch.

It is a huge problem that people don't have time to think anymore. It takes away all self awareness. I can also believe that people not being hungry anymore would also have significant detrimental effects. Both physical and mental. We were built for adversary, with lots of time to sir and think inbetween. Now we have nightmare rectangles and liquid diabetes on demand. And I can't expect anyone to escape this torture machine as I can't either.

My experience with the stoics is they tend to not give a shit about the state of the world at all. As opposed to those Plato gang that only care about the state of the world and want to fix/control it.

Seriously considering moving my main PC over to Linux on the weekend. Putting together a mental checklist of the 100+ things I'm going to have to get working again and/or find alternatives for.

Not going to happen. instead we are held together by large political units, which is just a weak substitute for your culture and your people. To unite with your people the multicultural utopian ideal needs to go away. It will happen. But you can't make it happen. Not yet.
