     @EvolLove @FortyTwo just to provide the exception that proves the rule, I give you Naomi Nagata, Chrisjen Avasarala and Camina Drummer from the Expanse novels and series. It's all about the writing, the character development and the actresses who portray them.

     The Expanse books are really good. The show is good too, but they never finished the entire book series due to some actor disputes.
     
     Another one is Star Trek Lower Decks. It has snuck in some stupid woke bullshit (the Texas vs California class starship episode for example), but overall, it's literally the best Star Trek series to come out in over a decade! (I'm not exaggerating .. Discovery and Picard are absolute dog shit).
     
     Unfortunately, it's just for Star Trek fans. Unless you watched at least two of TOS/TNS/DS9/etc. there's a good chance you'd miss half the jokes.

     Ur tolerance for anti white feminism in tv shows might also just be higher than mine.

     Looking at these pictures makes me think that it is a real shit show not worth viewing. But I will try to push myself to watch one episode.

     @djsumdog @EvolLove I watched the show before reading the books. I knew about the books but didn't prioritize read them first. I think they did a very very good job adapting the books for TV though.

     I grew up on the original series and watched all of the next generation. Kind of got bogged down in DS9 and when Discovery came out I just reached saturation. Never went back to the franchise, haven't even seen the Abrams movies.

     I agree, the TV adaptation is really good. Aghdashloo was the perfect actress for her role as well. The show really cut out a lot of the cheesier/campier parts of the book too.
     
     You should pirate some Lower Decks if you enjoyed the old treks. It's good fun and really funny.
     
     The Abram movies are okay. They're action flicks and not Star Trek. I think I saw two of them in the theater and I enjoyed them for what they were.
