I agree, the TV adaptation is really good. Aghdashloo was the perfect actress for her role as well. The show really cut out a lot of the cheesier/campier parts of the book too.

You should pirate some Lower Decks if you enjoyed the old treks. It's good fun and really funny.

The Abram movies are okay. They're action flicks and not Star Trek. I think I saw two of them in the theater and I enjoyed them for what they were.
