@thomasfuchs I want to know more about this. When I was on Spravato and saw you talking about infusions, I was skeptical because it was different from what my doc prescribed, and for a while, I think the effects were lasting beyond treatment, but 1.5 years after treatment, I’m not sure. They did say I could come in for follow-up treatment, as needed, but getting the practice to return my calls has been frustrating.
@schrotthaufen@Gargron@anildash I’m not sure whether “unalive” is a way to avoid algorithms or just a way to avoid saying “dead.” Where I grew up, referring to someone as “dead” seems crude and disrespectful, so we would say “passed away” or “moved on” or “in heaven.” I wonder if “unalive” is in a similar vein.
@thomasfuchs No, that can’t be the moon, I don’t think, but your mention of the moon made me think it was. It’s just so circular. Is that part of the nebula?
@aral Everyone could run their own Fediverse-capable server, which would solve this, but that’s a barrier too high for many, who don’t want the cost (time, money, knowledge, etc.) it takes to run one. The best option is probably a mix of both, with better tools to help users move and take their accounts with them when they move.
@dansup Two main reasons I ask are 1) I like what you’ve been doing around moderation, and 2) it might be interesting to migrate a #PHP community to a PHP-based server, which might get that community more involved in maintaining the project, but I would want to ensure that, however folks on our server experience the Fediverse today, their experience isn’t disrupted. I’m sure that would be a lot of work, but I know you already have some 1:1 compatibility with Mastodon APIs, right?
@dansup I’m not asking for this, nor am I volunteering to do it, but what do you think it would take to create a Pixelfed derivative that’s text, rather than image, focused and compatible with the Mastodon API?
@homegrown@lisamelton@mastodonmigration That’s fine. I don’t agree with running a Bluesky bridge, either, because Bluesky consciously chose not to use ActivityPub and to remain separate from the Fediverse, but I don’t understand why running the bridge would pose legal challenges, since the whole point of these protocols is to federate.
@dascandy42@inthehands@mekkaokereke I heard about teachers who used grading curves, but I never experienced it myself, not in high school or university.
