Not sure of the difference but the watt is a derived unit. Ampere is the fundamental unit

And all redefined in the past decade. No more "standard kilogram" kept in a vault! OK, that hasn't been the basis for measuring mass in quite some time, but they did work to get it down to known, measurable, presumably immutable quantities. WAY above my pay grade so had to hum through a lot of it but so much better than the "length of the King's" whatever.

Let me ALSO mention that in 1975, when complete transition to SI was in Canada's sight, I did my Grade 6 science fair project all about it.
Didn't stick.

The only thing I've ever found in favor of non-SI units is that the foot, being based on 12", is easily divisibly by 2 and 4 obviously, but also 3.
That and Fahrenheit degrees are smaller meaning you needn't resort to decimals as often. The counter to that is that no one can feel the difference between 19 and 20 C any more than they can feel the difference between 67 and 68 F.
Yes and that will be on the test.
> It is supposed to be an efficient marketplace with a trusted brand. How did it get so broken?
Have you heard about the owner ... ?
So ... The #Fediverse. I get that the Fediverse is not *one* thing but many things that use #ActivityPub. Much as the internet is not *one* thing but many things that use TCP/IP.
Mastodon is still, I think, the largest fraction of the Fediverse but as a Mastodon user, what powers does ActivityPub grant me? Do I magically have a "free account" on a Pixelfed instance? (yes, pretty much everything in the Fediverse is free, but you know what I mean). Does that other service "know" me?
You can opt-out with tape.
I recommend 3M Super 88.
You can also opt out by placing the vehicle in a crusher and pushing the button.
#YouTube users - is it just me, or are you all seeing #unskippable 2-3 minute ads now? Start for me in the last 24-48 hours.
If you reload the page -- because no "skip ad" button -- you *sometimes* get to continue on but more often than not, you are put back to the start of the video. A 3-minute ad in a 9-minute video seems ... excessive.
I am in Canada (so need to test via VPN) and I am logged in with a Google account.
Leaving aside all the mElon trash, I am annoyed by the people that think SpaceTwitter is "better" than NASA because NASA never caught its own boosters.
Well, no - that wasn't a mission objective. The objective was "beat Soviets to Moon". Designing a reusable booster to do that would have distracted from that goal.
Lol
I don't consider YouTube social media. Yes, I comment on videos occasionally, but mostly I just watch videos because, you know, it's a video-watching site.
If someone boosts my post, that's cool. But I don't need to see it *again* in my timeline.
If someone boosts some other post by someone I follow, that's cool. But I don't need to see it *again* in my timeline.
Please add this to the list #Mastodon peeps.
Mostly, I use just a browser, so not a client thing.
This isn't a setting I can control through prefs, is it?
Sometimes I do use #Mastoot on my iThings but that's a completely different thing, I realize.

@wilw shouldn’t hold back. Let it all out, man.
You didn't say, but I assume you mean iPods with actual disks, right? None of these "chip" things.
A band-aid would be expansion to at least 13 slots ... won't "fix it" but might moderate some of the worst excesses?
If you're 20 and it happened years before you were born, it hardly matters if it's 60 years ago or 160.
