Imogen (hopelessdemigod@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 14-Jan-2025 08:57:23 JST Imogen Between 18% and 22% of jobs advertised in 2024 were appeals for new workers that never actually got filled.
White-collar workers say it’s harder to get hired and blame everything from artificial intelligence to tighter budgets.
70% of companies using Greenhouse posted at least one ghost job in the second quarter of last year. And 15% of companies were regular offenders, with one in every two jobs they advertised languishing with no hire.

Imogen (hopelessdemigod@mstdn.social)'s status on Friday, 03-Jan-2025 09:53:05 JST Imogen People are getting pretty wound up about the net neutrality court decision today. It really comes down to “telecommunications service" provider vs an "information service” provider.
Congress needs to address this not the FCC and while congress is at it reclassify ISP’s, web hosting providers and social media sites as common carriers.
Easy peezy.

Imogen (hopelessdemigod@mstdn.social)'s status on Saturday, 07-Dec-2024 01:37:26 JST Imogen I suspect the key difference is China is considered a national security threat and that has to be taken into consideration otherwise the Supreme Court has ruled that government regulation of First Amendment rights must be “narrowly tailored,” which means that laws must be written precisely to place as few restrictions as possible on First Amendment liberties.

Imogen (hopelessdemigod@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 19-Nov-2024 03:28:45 JST Imogen Potential future FCC Chair Carr has also supported the rollback of net neutrality rules and called for “legislation that scraps” Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which gives immunity to tech platforms that moderate user-generated content.
“Congress should do so by ensuring that Internet companies no longer have carte blanche to censor protected speech while maintaining their Section 230 protections,” he wrote in Project 2025.
