Trooper charged with possession of child porn

Trooper Jeremy Plonski was arrested on Thursday on a federal warrant for production of child porn.

Plonski is being held in the Sherburne County Jail. The details of his arrest weren't immediately made available, and the criminal complaint against Plonski wasn't yet publicly available.

The number of children in grades 7 to 12 using opioids in Ottawa roughly doubled from 2021 to 2023, according to recent data from Ottawa Public Health (OPH) and the Centre for Mental Health and Addiction.

Ten per cent of students in those grades reported using the highly addictive drugs without a prescription in 2021, according to OPH's presentation last Monday to the city's board of health.

In 2023, the most recent year data was available, that number jumped to 20 per cent. It mirrors an Ontario-wide trend, with the percentage for that group jumping from 13 to 22 per cent over the same period.

Congress mandated the switch to Real IDs after 9/11. The new IDs are more secure and harder to counterfeit.

But after several lengthy delays, millions of Americans still don't meet the requirement that's just over a month away.

Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont and Washington currently issue them.

Valid passports or military IDs are also accepted.

Hunter Schafer says “it’s important to just keep track of where things are in our country,” a day after the “Euphoria” star posted a video in which she revealed her new passport had been issued with a male gender marker.

Speaking to The Associated Press at the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday, the 26-year-old actor, who is trans, said she felt “it was a good, necessary point” to share. Schafer, also a presenter at the award show, was nominated for best lead performance for “Cuckoo”.

“It doesn’t really change anything about me or my transness. However, it does make my life a little harder,” Schafer said in the video, saying she has to travel for the first time with the new passport next week.

“Trans people are beautiful. We are never going to stop existing. I’m never going to stop being trans. A letter and a passport can’t change that,” she concluded.

Gov. Tim Walz held a press conference Tuesday afternoon at a corn and soybean farm in Cannon Falls to talk about how the tariffs will impact Minnesota farmers.

“The uncertainties that are out of their control, producers have always dealt with that,” Walz said. “It’s the manmade disasters that are avoidable and the ones that we really need to keep a look on.”

“As farmers, you know, [we are] usually on the short end of the stick. Between you and me, if I told you I’m going to raise your products 25%, you know, and the retaliation is you got to raise your products 25%, and basically, we’re both paying more for goods we shouldn’t have to because of the tariff,” said farmer Ted Winter.
