In my mind there's a picture of a kid who was told they had to share the icecreams, so they just threw them all on the ground so no one could have them.

Wtf. This isn't even my country, but the shame is palpable all the same.

God give me the wisdom to recognise any situations like that in my life, and the strength and courage to never side with the a**holes.

Hahaha 🤣 no they can't.

I work with people who are start programmers who have written C++ and C for 30+ years. And even they have write memory safe code. They would have to be a borrowchecker to be able to do that.

Of course people are reluctant to change their tooling; that means moving outside their comfort zone...

And in regards to speed: Rust is like 3% slower than C i believe?

I never thought about Michael Jackson using an actual drummer, i always just thought he probably had that part synthesized or whatever.

@mekkaokereke that's funny to me, seems to me most people prefer Billie Jean, when they play Michael Jackson on the radio here it's almost always that song, but amongst his performances i find it kind of Meh. My favourite is smooth criminal.

@georgetakei i visited a friend recently, who has been taking care of two red ara. They were quiet when we went into the room they were in (they climbed around freely) but when we sat down to eat, downstairs we could hear them swearing and yelling at each other and cursing us for chickens, and cackling

It was friggin hilarious.

I absolutely agree that talking about mental health medication in derogatory terms is abhorrent. It's as necessary as painkillers are for people with serious chronic pain, or nerve medicine for epileptics.

But! The media has a tendency to misrepresent mental illness, and give it a stigma... And then there are the "self medicators" who also tend to give things a bad rep.
