@thomasfuchs A lot of rich folks on ketamine are not on "for depression" doses, we learned from the death of Matthew Perry.

Sepideh (sepdroid@androiddev.social)'s status on Tuesday, 19-Mar-2024 00:00:45 JST Sepideh @thomasfuchs I think this discussion can be ableist, but there is a pattern of excusing people's bad behavior by speculating on their mental health issues like "What if that person who is abusive towards you is just suffering from some mental health issue."
And I am not sure how to stay off of both these paths because both are terrible.

ADisorderlyFashion (adisorderlyfashion@mas.to)'s status on Tuesday, 19-Mar-2024 00:03:18 JST ADisorderlyFashion @thomasfuchs I somehow managed to miss the second example you give. If he's truly doing that, I question his doing so for therapeutic reasons, but my bigger concern with adderall is how many people I know who are struggling to function because they can't get their prescription due to supply issues. I don't know if ketamine has similar supply issues, but it seems to do far more good than harm the more I look into it. The harm mostly being people abusing it, but every drug that can is being abused

Rasmus Lindegaard (rasmus91@fosstodon.org)'s status on Tuesday, 19-Mar-2024 03:08:20 JST Rasmus Lindegaard @thomasfuchs ketamine is only allowed for anesthesia here.
I absolutely agree that talking about mental health medication in derogatory terms is abhorrent. It's as necessary as painkillers are for people with serious chronic pain, or nerve medicine for epileptics.
But! The media has a tendency to misrepresent mental illness, and give it a stigma... And then there are the "self medicators" who also tend to give things a bad rep.

Bryan (bryanlastreddrop@toot.community)'s status on Tuesday, 19-Mar-2024 08:34:25 JST Bryan @thomasfuchs it is rather sad that the more pervasive argument is "he might not be mentally stable" as opposed to "he has assumed Nazism"...for the record...Hitler was at least partially behind the success of VW....
