@Dianora Tangentially - I was horrified to read that Telus is using AI to mask call center worker accents. Talk about degrading...

Different accents and different phraseology is half the fun of talking to people that don't have the same background as you.

@croyle @Dianora Yeah, it's hugely disrespectful in my opinion

@hellomiakoda That was my guess. Go fire up Tuba on Linux on a desktop and watch how much memory it consumes.

As the timeline scrolls, I don't think it releases memory, I think that scroll list just continues to grow ad infinitum.

I like Tuba (and could tolerate the memory voracity), except for one other bug - it timeline jumps when live streaming is enabled, which drives me _bonkers_

Anyways, that's my guess on your memory issues, cause yeah, 6 GB should be enough; it is on a desktop.

@hellomiakoda quinquennial and decennial per Merriam-Webster. Vicennial is every 20. Searching on ennial and a duration will get you all of them.

@hellomiakoda You have good taste. I use a theme called Nostromo for an Aliens movie CRT vibe. It's great. Yours looks good too. I will check out tut when I get home, I need a good masto tui.

Does anyone on Debian 12 or 13 have guidance on how to permit a non-root user to work with virsh commands to manage virtual machines? I don't want to have to use sudo to run backups, but this has eluded me for quite a while now. I've found a variety of ideas online, but none have been the fix so far.

@VE3RWJ @HopelessDemigod yeah, but those are metric watts, so it's more. Yes, watts are metric. I don't know what the native unit of power for non-metric countries would be. Would it be horsepower? Is that what our neighbors should actually be ham radioing in? (it's an easy conversion to remember... 745 watts to the HP, or just remember 747 like the airplane and you are close enough)

Have fun with your 0.13 HP and a wire, folks!

@VE3RWJ @HopelessDemigod I guess technically the Watt is SI, not metric, but still..

@VE2UWY @VE3RWJ @HopelessDemigod Yep! I was actually reading up on it last night, there are only seven base SI units, and 22 derived units.

It's pretty neat imo how you can measure pretty much anything based on those seven units.
