#PhotoOfTheDay is of a USGS elevation benchmark disk on the summit of Mauna Kea, the tallest summit in Hawaii & the largest mountain on earth when measured from its base on the ocean bed.

Favorite fact:The elevation shown (13,796') is measured using traditional methods. That's from sea level. But GPS elevation is 100 or 200' higher (I forget which.) Why? Sea level here is higher as Mauna Kea is so massive it has its own gravity, which pulls the ocean up on its flanks! 😮

@clacke @sergio_101 They aren't the only one. Google will bring up others, but these folks I had good experience with.

@sergio_101 I had mine printed by a service, which greatly simplified and sped up the process. I could have done it all myself in Photoshop etc. but it would have taken a lot of time and I couldn't be sure how it would turn out until they were printed.

@sergio_101 I just dug up the emails and it was from Tim at https://www.customqsl.com. I was happy with the cards and service.
