    @FotoVorschlag
    'Im Nirgendwo' 'in the nowhere'
    It might look like a "normal" hiking photo. But that day I hiked into an area where I didn't see nor hear anybody for quite some hours!

    Shortly after I took this photo, I reached a spot where I just stopped, looked around and - except for the trail - everything was just nature. No human made sound, no human traces ... And I think it was the first time I felt really "remote" and in the nowhere -- and I liked it!

      @killyourfm @hikingdude Yeah, going up and down those ridges - sometimes on really vertical trails - can be brutal!

      I went to look at your post but after a long time waiting got a "Cloudron App Error" whatever that is.

      @croyle @hikingdude My second backpacking trip was there! It absolutely wrecked me, but it was type 2 fun :)
      I wrote a bit about it if anyone's interested.

      @hikingdude It's pretty enormous and it covers a couple of large ridges. Part of the park is also designated as Wilderness where even mountain bikes aren't permitted, and they take considerable time and effort to reach those more remote areas. So that's a pretty effective barrier to keeping out most hikers. I always enjoy visiting when it's not too hot and dry there, whether hiking or backpacking.

      @hikingdude @FotoVorschlag I love when that happens! It's very rare here but there is one very large park where you can hike for a day or two without seeing another person, if you are lucky.

      The park is bigger that Bermuda and has 200 miles of trails, yet it's less than an hour's drive from Silicon Valley. One entrance is popular but the other end is hardly used and almost never by common day hikers.

      @croyle @hikingdude this thread might be persuading me to head back there this week for an overnighter. It seems like Spring over there right now!

      @killyourfm @hikingdude Works now!

      I know most of the trails on that map well. And I remember taking a good long nap at Mississippi Lake one year! 😅

      @hikingdude Yes, I've had a lot of good hikes there and several good backpacking trips with friends and family.

      They have an annual "backcountry weekend" where people are allowed to drive in farther to a grass parking area and hike/pack from there all weekend, which I did with friends like five times as well.
