The world of anime and film has lost a true visionary.

Yoshihiro Nishimura, the legendary director and special effects artist behind *Attack on Titan* (live-action), *Tokyo Gore Police*, and *Helldriver*, passed away today at 59 after a battle with liver disease.

Nishimura wasn't just a name in credits; he was an innovator who brought nightmares to life for films like *Shin Godzilla* and the cult classic *Suicide Club*. His work, often blending horror, sci-fi, and dark comedy, has inspired generations of creators worldwide. He ran his own special effects company, Nishimura Eizo Co., Ltd., pushing boundaries in model-making and visual storytelling until his final days.

He was currently working on the film *Geisha War* as both director and co-writer when he passed away after nearly two weeks in the hospital. His legacy lives on through iconic imagery that continues to haunt our screens, from the towering Titans of Attack on Titan to the grotesque beauty of Tokyo Gore Police.
