@Suiseiseki @theorytoe Do you have any software not made by GNU you don't consider garbage?
Lmao, you guys are a cult, being totally serious here.
Even with companies and software I disagree, sometimes I admit they do great and good quality stuff.
You are not different than Apple cultists. -

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu I'm okay with FOSS when makes you do author recognition of your libraries. In the same way any Copyleft software works.
I'm not okay when a FOSS software forces me to do my project FOSS and/or share whatever modification I do. -

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu v3 is terrible overall, It force people to share all their modifications to the original author.
Being forced is not my definition of freedom. -

@waifu @Suiseiseki @freetar GPL licenses are terrible because they force you to make your projects opensouce too.
When you are dealing with B2B is ridiculous to expose customer business to internet. -

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu You are free to use whatever license you want lol.
On my side, part of my job is removing every single piece of software using GPL libraries because they are terrible for the software industry.
So far so good by the way, thankfully the OpenSource community, including big tech, do very great software/libraries under MIT/Apache, and we contribute when possible, -

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu @Snidely_Whiplash And still GNU can be replaced.
GCC is one of the major offenders here, as they introduce custom C/C++ functions (GNU-C) away from the standard (ANSI) and force all their software, including glibc, to use those.
That makes any compiler like Clang very difficult to be a fully replacement to compile GNU solutions and Systemd.
Eventually, they will force people (including myself) to fully replace all the GNU infrastructure as they don't abide to the C and C++ standards.
GNU way of imposing their standards (like Microsoft) are actually boosting the alternatives. -

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu My heart belong to MIT and BSD licenses, mostly.
GPL since v3 is obscene. -

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu There is not a single place on the GPL license forcing you to add the name GNU prefix.
That's why 99.999% of Linux users don't care about adding the GNU prefix. Not even major companies doing business with Linux.
So at the end, this is just like some dude asking you to respect their pronouns. -

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu You can call GNU/glibc or glibc. I don't care honestly.
If you want to pay respects for GNU, feel free to do that, just don't expect others to follow or agree with you.
The whole discussion here happens because you don't accept "Linux" as the Operative System, but instead you are claiming the Operative System is GNU/Linux.
That doesn't make it correct or incorrect, that makes you forcing people to use the GNU/loser term -

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu No one forces me to say Linux.
GNU/cults want to force people to say GNU/Linux.
We are not the same. -

@waifu @Suiseiseki @freetar What about Hurd?
Even a mentally ill person like Terry Davis did a functional Operative System before GNU/tards -

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu Yeah but again, I don't care about GNU, neither their Newspeak about Linux.
And technically you are giving me good reasons to stand with the blue-hair transgender weirdos who make Rust replacements of GNU stuff.

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu Linux is GPL-2 licensed.
No one wants to use the GPL-3, the extra restrictions without benefits are stupid enough to avoid it.In conversation from pl.slash.cl permalink -

@Suiseiseki @freetar @waifu I can go forever getting different definitions about Linux.
Only GNU cult members believes Linux only means a kernel because they want recognition using a GNU/whateverIn conversation from pl.slash.cl permalink Attachments
