People need to get their heads around the fact that the people ruining their favorite thing aren't doing it because they are idiots (they very well may be idiots), they hate the things they are destroying.
They hate Cracker Barrel, and NASCAR, and [insert wholesome thing you used to like here].
So they gut it. And change it, and if it dies or is mutilated, that is a perfectly acceptable result, because they hated it anyway.

My assumption is that they normalize it, then pull the switch part of the bait and switch, and suddenly the CBDC is the only legal one allowed.
