100%. The only time I've used it was when there was something that want available elsewhere, and I still shudder at the memory, months later. And my browser is adblocked etc.
I think a lot of internet users are desensitised to garbage websites due to ads screening everything up, to the point where Temu feels normal.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_studies_about_Wikipedia contains lots of info on studies, but I can't see anything about how editors interact with the site. It would be be particularly useful to interview people who have been editors in the past and have stopped. And ideally block that across demographics
I used to edit a lot, but I lost interest after an mildly obnoxious edit war over the interpretation of a low-n metaanalysis (also lack of time)
@dansup I've send like 3 spammy looking accounts and zero (maybe one?) actual spam posts on mastodon in the last 18 months of using it daily.. I'm guessing that mean mastodon IS doing something, and fairly successfully?
@MicroSFF I read this a few days ago and shared it on other platforms via screenshot, but I wanted to come back and say how impressed with it I am..
You manage to set up an entire world (with a scene that's quite visual for me), without describing any of it. You make a pretty deep and on-point observation about humanity. And you make it funny.
#followfriday is still useful. And following hashtags, and then following interesting accounts in your feed and in searches.
Not that many people who I was following on twitter came over and stayed.. So maybe better to treat it as a whole new thing rather than as a migration.
