Terrible news from Switzerland. The village of Blatten in Valais has been struck by an avalanche today with many houses completely destroyed by the sliding rocks and mud.
I am reading that an orderly evacuation happened before the avalanche hit, which will likely have kept the fatalities low. One person is missing.

I am seeing multiple reports that Putin is right now moving more than 50,000 soldiers to cross the border at Sumy and Kharkiv Oblasts.

Trump is trying to end US democracy. One provision in Trump’s new “Big beautiful bill” says that when Trump breaks the law, courts can no longer enforce the law by making US Marshalls serve him a contempt of court order, UNLESS Trump’s government decides to finance this work first.
In other words: Trump decides if Trump can be held accountable for breaking the law. This will effectively make Trump an untouchable King.
Let’s hope this does not pass the Senate.

My #SilentSunday was a hike around the old hydroelectric plant “Brende Mill” on Funen. From 1912 to sometime in the 1970s they used to generate power here from the water of the Brende River.
Picture 1: In 1990 they built this salmon ladder, which enable fish to jump from step to step and swim further up the river.
Picture 2: A nearby gravel pit has been completely transformed to a wonderful forrest and nature area which is now home to ravens, swans, ducks, geese, pheasants, and red dear.
