I have seen people on Mastodon promoting Threads. And on Threads I have seen people promoting Bluesky. So now I have created an account on Bluesky where I plan to go all in on promoting Mastodon.

@Remittancegirl democracies are vulnerable to propaganda. Commercial platforms use algorithms that make them more prone to serving propaganda. The more people we get to join Mastodon, the more resilient we become.

It is a complex topic, but it is what I am working on for my next video, so stay tuned. 🙂

This gives me hope for #Ukraine:

Trump has picked Mike Waltz as his National Security Advisor, and he is not some ignorant MAGA politician but a combat-decorated Green Beret who served in Afghanistan.

Waltz has written several articles demanding more Ukraine aid from both the US and Europe.

Interesting quotes:

"Doing nothing in the face of aggression is how World War III will eventually start."

"Stopping Russia before it draws NATO and therefore the U.S. into war is the right thing to do."

Elon Musk bought Twitter and through a series of catastrophic business decisions managed to decrease the value of the company by 80 percent in just two years.

That is the guy who has now bought his way into American politics. That is the person whom Trump wants to optimize the USA.

The US: "Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction. Please help us in the war on terror!"

With Elon Musk successfully buying his way to power in the US and getting surprisingly tight with Trump, stand-up comedian Jimmy Kimmel now refering to Musk as “Elonia Trump” is definitely the laugh we need right now.

While Russian state tv is busy telling the people, that Russia is winning, Putin has now ordered 400,000 public employees fired by july 1st — because nothing says “the economy is fine”, like sacking 400,000 employees to keep the war machine afloat.

Trump has now announced the merciless Tom Homan as his new [quote:] "border tzar".

Homan has promised "the biggest deportation operation this country has ever seen".

There will be zero empathy as the trains are filled with human beings who committed the crime of not being white enough for Trump.

Truly an appalling choice.

If any German needed an argument for voting in the coming general election, look at this fact:

In the US, Trump won with the support of just 75 million votes in a country with 335 million citizens. In other words, just 22 percent of the US citizens decided to drive the country off a cliff, and everyone else is now going down with them.

Multiple videos show an apparently succesful Ukrainian strike on a Russian ammunition depot in Bryansk during the night.

In videos from this morning, various munitions can be heard exploding in the still ongoing fire.

"Thank you for sucking up to me in hopes of getting a job in my administration.
Unfortunately, I am unable to offer you a position, as it has come to my attention that you have a conscience."

The GDP of Russia is 2.2 trillion dollars. That is an economy about half the size of California. That is who the USA is now surrendering to in the Ukraine war. That is how much of a coward Trump is.

Russia has lost more than 700,000 soldiers and another 1,660 in the last 24 hours.

Should we finish off the Russian bear while it is bleeding, or let it sleep a few winters and come back with renewed strength?

That is the choice we are facing.

And so it begins. In the negotiations between the US and Ukraine, Elon Musk is now sitting at the table. Because surely, the guy who ran a successful social medium into the ground must be really skilled at deciding the future for the security of the world.

The Trump clown bus is back, and as always it is full of “all the best people”.

The most scary fact I have read this week:

In the 2024 US presidential election one third of US voters did not vote.

It was literally a choice between a convicted felon with a fascist agenda and a law and order candidate who wanted to defend democracy — and still, every third US voter did not care.

Apathy is the first step to ending democracy.

German language question: In English, if you want to create a random name which could mean anyone, people often talk about “John Doe”, as in the sentence, “Any John Doe could have done it” — meaning anyone could have done it.

In Danish we sometimes say Mr. Hansen or Ms Jensen.

What do you say in German? And is it even common to use these made up names in a sentence?

@SaareMartha I am curious Saare… what has the political reaction to Trump's election been in Estonia? Will the government stand firm in its support for Ukraine, no matter what happens in Washington?

#Mastodon, we have a troll problem.

Increasingly I discover Russian sympathisers and trolls who reply to my posts with content I cannot see. I only discover these replies because other users react to them.

Attached is an example where @Gurre replies to a troll (pic 1), but I cannot scroll upwards and see the troll's post.

This seems to allow an attacker to attach content to my posts, without me being able to see it and block him.

I have seen this exploit a number of times.
