@dalias@lispi314@jplebreton Ok, I don't know enough about how the usual OpenSSL vulnerabilities can be exploited, so I'll take you word for it, as I think you know way more about this
@morgant@pthane@solene@matthew OTOH, SMS can at least be received with dumb phones, there are probably also solutions that only work via smartphone app. Or services that require an app, like when public transportation suddenly stops using tickets on paper (sold by busdrivers or ticket machines) but want you to use an app instead
@jplebreton Related: I fucking hate it when Wikipedia decides that things should be deleted because they're not "relevant" (by some weird standards), or even not relevant *anymore*.
@sinbad@molecularmusing also, you can still count how often each page was loaded without tracking anyone. sure, that's not as much information as seeing how exactly users navigate the page and how long they look at what, but at least it gives you an idea which pages might be hard to find
@sinbad Even if you *need* cookies, you don't need a banner - as long as you only set the cookies you actually need, for example for logins. They're only needed for cookies that aren't technically needed, like the hundreds of thirdparty tracking cookies that most websites want to set
@sinbad For my blog I used one of the most simple blog-like themes I could find (Lithium) and enhanced it to my likings. I think the fancier themes already required additional bloat even back then (2017?! fuck, time flies)
@sinbad £30 for delivery? Do they ship from Australia? What adapter is it specifically? I could check if a German shop has it, shipping shouldn't be *that* expensive from here
@TomF@sinbad Fellwurst doesn't really like being picked up either. She usually endures it for a minute or so and then starts struggling to get down again. But OTOH she's very cuddly: She loves scritches, demands to have her fur brushed multiple times per day, she boops our noses with her nose, she loves to sleep on or cuddled against us in bed or on the sofa (but not under the blanket), I get at least one milk treading per day.. but she doesn't like to be held or embraced 🤷
@TomF@sinbad Not sure how she was brought up exactly (we got her at 1.5years), but she's no stray. She's a Bengal though, so part of her is a bit wild and she has strong opinions on how things should (not) be.
I just read that Epic Games have made the original Unreal and Unreal Tournament freeware by allowing archive.org to host ISOs (CD images) of the original installation media.
@sinbad@dotstdy What addon chips? I thought this was about ARM-based Qualcomm SOCs - which of course makes them extra-unattractive for PC, as most software is still written for x86
@sinbad Aren't most PCs "AI capable" nowadays? Mobile CPUs already contain a NPU, and desktop GPUs also have AI features. Probably most people who have a PC/laptop that's still good enough won't upgrade just for AI, but if you need a new machine anyway, it 1. is getting harder to avoid and 2. most people probably *will* buy one with AI features, just in case that becomes important in the future (like Win12 requiring it)
@masukomi@babe On the one hand, yeah, it's kinda annoying when all criticism is brushed off with "patches are welcome", on the other hand, you get that software for free (as in freedom and in beer).
It might be their hobby project, in which case they get to decide what they spend time on (writing code or documentation or whatever).
I see things a bit different for FOSS written by corporations, though.
