I wonder how much proprietary software is made with AI these days
Like we all are very watchful for open source code made by llms, which is important especially in these cases and we will pick software made by humans frequently

But I'm very curious how much of the daily proprietary code I use (websites, apps, etc etc) is vibe coded these days (or has a large ai influence)

In think why both the English and German announcements are bad is because there is so much useless crap being announced

And in germany they love: "the train is arriving", " the train is leaving" and "these are all the trains the next half hour please enjoy this 3 minute long announcement"

While in NL there are no announcement, unless *something doesn't go as planned*, like, a platform changing or train cancellation

Part of the reason there are so many announcements here is that they don't plan the arrival platform ahead of time. Like how. You don't know if there'll be space for the train when it arrives??

So everyone is hugging the departure signs looking when their train finally arrives to see what random platform they've send it to

Meanwhile my train is delayed and there hasn't been a single announcement yet

My friend has basically been eating beans for every breakfast and idk why I havent been doing the same

Hey the 49€ dutchlandticket is finally been brought up in the agenda of the first house of representatives today, after a majority vote in the second house on the 22nd of may.

They plead to get funding for it (only 118€ million compared to the billions they wanted to spend on lowering fuel taxes) in a kind of unorthodox way without approval as approval would take too long (summer would already be half over) so let's hope they can convince everyone abt this
(Not that they already spent 1.7 billion this year in lowered fuel taxes. With the same amount of money they now want to spend on trains, they could also choose to lower fuel prices 1.2¢ per liter. Kind of insane how big that difference is compared to the trains.)

Dutch families have on average 1.3 cars for a family size of 2.1. The families with a car use about 947l/year of fuel. That is 79l per month. So with that 1.2¢ fuel price lowering that would save every family 1€ per month.

Meanwhile the same money can save 127-49=78€ per person using Dal Vrij currently. Even if only one person in a family is using the subscription (which I doubt will happen, its too good of a deal) you're already ~75x more effective than the fuel lowering

This ~75x number seems awfully similar in a calculation I made last year which compared the tax payer's price of commuter traffic per 1000 km traveled per capita. Trains where 70x cheaper or so iirc. The difference is ofc that the 70x is paid by road tax mostly but its still and awful lot of money.
