I despise Docker so much, garbage IPv6 support that has the malicious-incompetence similar to bad ISPs hotlines, wants to screw with the OS firewall by default, ends up highly encouraging gigantic blobs as a server-app™ distribution method, and basically non-existant service management by design.
And LXC is barely any better.

But when it comes to stuff like bubblewrap/unshare on Linux, then suddenly it's a lot better as it's effectively only about namespacing like a more complete chroot.

@dalias Reminds me that typically I want at least a 2nd implementation for data formats, protocols, …

And even more when it comes from ones like Google or Facebook as they are known for horrible technical choices (like anti-packaging buildsystems and languages which don't bootstrap) but also for dropping projects with little to no announcements.

@koakuma @prettygood Yeah, it's why I never contribute to stuff with a CLA.

Funniest is the AGPLv3+CLA (I think Oracle introduced that horror, with BerkDB), keep the patch under your own copyright and either they have to drop being the sole copyright holder or drop using AGPLv3 as a hack.

@koakuma @prettygood Yeah, if Oracle wouldn't be the only copyright holder then Oracle would be infringing, the CDDL is a copyleft license.

1. If there's very few copyright holder, the license is temporary
2. If it's also too big/messy to fork, run away

  IBM manufactured magnetic disk storage devices from 1956 to 2003, when it sold its hard disk drive business to Hitachi. Both the hard disk drive (HDD) and floppy disk drive (FDD) were invented by IBM and as such IBM's employees were responsible for many of the innovations in these products and their technologies.
