You save yourself a lot of grief by simply plugging in a synth 🪗 every night with no need for endless worry about feedback

There’s a few heavy performers who use electro-acoustic instruments, but they work the noise as part of their sound

My friend from North Dakota got me some of their records to play on @accordionnoir

There were always a few 🪗 bands scattered around in every era of pop music

I’m convinced the difficulty amplifying them is a big reason they don’t stick around

But kind of wrote a book about that

I’d say people have been resisting all along

“Where is the resistance?” Is a self defeating cop out, unless it’s an honest request for opportunities

Ideally this would have soldiers refusing to serve. The Vietnam Vets Against the War scared the shit out of the powers

Finally thought of one

If you’re making paper-mâché

Soak two-ply cardboard from any recycling bin in water for a few minutes and you can pull the layers apart into super heavy duty leather-like kraft paper worth hundreds of dollars if you tried to buy it somewhere on a roll or something

You can make your project with a few layers of this that feels almost like fiberglass

Totally different level than what we did in school with newspaper. Who even has newsprint anymore?

Where it costs more to house people for years than to produce debt-free college graduates

Now the Republicans know they can never win a free election again in America

So their only option is to construct an apparatus to repress or remove non-white voters

There’s #accordion history theories I’d like to research further

East Asian free reeds were brought to Europe in the 16-1700s. They’d been evolving (still are) in Asia for thousands of years

Europeans made reed organs in the 1700s and an explosion of harmonicas, and accordion/concertina relations in the 1820s or so

Maybe there were precedents in Russia? There’s other innovations

But Cyril Demian patented the first instrument Called an #accordion in Vienna in 1829

Histories seem to have diverged in different counties, especially after the Russian Revolution

“Eastern” accordions and “Western” ones split further on several separate branches of various types of instruments

There’s theories I’d like to follow. I don’t have the languages to do it justice really

There were some organ makers from Germany Christian Gottlieb Kratzenstein (1723– 1795) and Wolfgang von Kempelen (1734–1804)

Working in Saint Petersburg, who were I guess shelling out for musicians, like they were in Austria

They made some key developments that all Western free reeds followed

So that’s pretty important

Word from Etsy and my shipper ChitChats is that the tariffs have maintained the $800 “de minimis exemption”

Which means that small exporters from Canada aren’t affected (yet) 🤞🏼

I don’t have an answer

For now I don’t do much streaming. If we want to support musicians, give money to musicians. Bandcamp seems to be probably the highest percentage going to musicians, and they do streaming

But tons of mainstream artists aren’t on there, because the record companies don’t get as big a cut possibly?
