All of that. Yes.@mekkaokereke, as long as you are here to pass on the word about the next Great Riverboat Brawl or similar event, I'm here for you.
I would never have known about that. But I'll also be there. Just quieter.

I'm not the one to say it authoritatively and maybe I should just keep my mouth shut, but if there's a metric for saying #BlackTwitter moved to #BlueSky,that metric has been met. It's awesome. I am not expecting l will do much interacting over there but just reading all that joy and sh#t talking is fun.

I'm going to admit it.
You pulled me in.
I came into this one way.
After two years of reading you and @mekkaokereke, I'm of a different mind. -

I would definitely be in favor of that.I'm starting to force myself to use Bluesky more even though the format is noticeably more clunky (no editing posts? GD!).
BS's stewards have placed more (any?) priority on making their overall social network more attractive to people who bounce from here because of targeted harrasment. -

Weird Socks (ohmu@social.seattle.wa.us)'s status on Wednesday, 25-Sep-2024 09:14:36 JST Weird Socks I mentioned months ago that a large West Coast muni whose name rhymes with "Fee Battle" would be hiring a Cybersecurity Specialist.
That job posted 2 wks ago! I learned about today! Closing is 4 PM 8 Oct.This is a union-represented position and will earn .. more than me. And I'm no pushover.
It will have a substantial OT role.
Come help a utility survive in the wilderness while delivering drinking water to 1.6M! Push back against the AI onslaught!

I will admit I hadn't realized the China angle. I'm trying to imagine how that would work with the US still pushing billions in aid to Israel every year.I have been assuming the Biden Administration is trying not to push AIPAC into more extensive political sabotage. Just last month, they flexed a little muscle and knocked out Cori Bush. I read that as a show of power.

My employer just hired a trans woman who moved her whole family here from Georgia two weeks ago. Sold everything.Refugees.
She has a valuable professional certificate in a field that doesn't have enough people trained. Georgia lost. We gained.

I've knocked on doors or phone banked in every presidential election save one since Kerry ran plus numerous local elections. The one I skipped was HRC and the only reason I did was I was a fool enough to believe what polls said.Never again.

I've been doing this long enough that I can recite the official justification for public sector treasure flowing to the private sector without cracking a smile.
But I'll say what's true here. They have lobbyists. They've spent decades creating a regulatory environment that forces this.
The only reason it's not a complete and total transfer is public sector #unions. We have lobbyists, too. -

A large western Washington municipality that rhymes with "free cattle" is going to post an opportunity for a new OT #cybersecurity manager in a few weeks. For a variety of reasons, I am very invested in this position even though I'm just lowly water engineer.
Please stay tuned. I will post a link here when I have it myself. Please spread the word wherever infosec folks gather.
My hope is that this will be an opportunity for some culture change.

One thing struck me: 12 jurors felt safe enough to convict him. He's more vulnerable now than he's been since the 1970s. His strong man boy crushes around the globe would never have let this happen. -

Ignore #polls as much as you can.I got out the vote in the past several elections before 2016. In 2016 I saw polls saying things like it was 98% certain Clinton would win. For the first time in years, I decided not to go help because of that.
That was a mistake.
Polls did actually used to be somewhat meaningful and predictive but that stopped being true sometime before 2016. I missed that change.

(FOR YOU TO READ TOMORROW MORNING. GO TO SLEEP 😴)It occurred to me that I know of contracts that go the other way - requiring union labor. In the US system, that might imply the opposite is also legal.
