It's probably my personal social media bubble, but the codeburg terms thing is getting way more attention than I'd have guessed. People are free to restrict usage of their services and do so all the time - how many services don't allow nudity, for example? There are plenty of niche forges just like there are plenty of niche mastodon instances. Codeburg can do what they want.

Back in 2020 (which is when this pic is from), you could put your laptop in a plate of ketchup and it wasn't a big deal. These days, there goes your life savings.

@dalias Box fans are pretty loud. My wife complained. A lot.

The PC fans are silent*. The Airmega fans are louder, even on the medium setting.

* with the caveat that there's no mesh keeping stuff from falling in there, and one of the fans has gotten gummed up with.. I'm going to guess bean juice? From when we had it next to the kitchen counter. Stuff™ spilled on it. The fan still works, it's just slightly noisier than it was once.

Sadly I've only made 2 of them for the house (I need to buy more PC fans), but I still use these filters. Here's why.

Currently, the outside AQI in Forest Park near my house is 235 ("unhealthy for living creatures", if memory serves). #CRBox

This has been true for (at least) the last two decades. If you're not buying directly from an artist, you're buying into the panopticon.

@skinnylatte Hang on a second. Processing international arrivals isn't for the states/cities benefit - it's for the benefit of the *federal government*, so that they can enforce immigration policies and borders.

So if they stop processing international flights, but the flights continue; doesn't that just result in no border checks? People fly to NYC, no customs checks, they just walk right into the baggage claim area? In other words, "open borders" , the thing that they claim that Dems want?

OMG that's hilarious.

One of the wildest things about traveling to foreign countries is going to US chain restaurants and discovering that their menu is completely different (and actually good). In the mid-90s, people in Ecuador would actually dress up to go to KFC.

I never really thought about how this works in the opposite direction (people from other countries visiting the US).
